Agraphobia
Photos and Objects by Shari Pierce (USA/Ger)
Coming from the applied arts, Shari Pierce's (*1973 in New York, USA) works deal with social questions and phenomena of our times.
At her last year's exhibition "Whitewash" at the Rob Koudijs Gallery in Amsterdam, NL; Pierce showed the portraits of 36 sentenced sexual offenders within a 5 mile radius, printed on fabric and made into objects of art.
As a further development of that project, during her exhibition at E324 | Raum für Kunst in Munich Shari Pierce will display new "body-pieces" and approximately 300 portraits of sentenced sexual offenders from different regions in the US.
With her, esthetically speaking, very beautiful works - photos printed on transparent foils, seemingly floating in the air, lightweight fabrics - Pierce points at questions that are currently discussed very controversially in Europe and in Germany. Pierce has taken part in numerous exhibitions and won several international prizes. Her works are represented in European and US collections.
"Agraphobia" is shown in parallel to Munich's Jewelry 2011, at which Shari Pierce will also be present.
